House Repairs

Buying an old house means hiring someone to make repairs, making repairs yourself, or both. We have chosen to do both. Some repairs, like new ceilings, we are hiring someone to do but other things, like painting, we feel we can do ourselves. Here’s a photograph Mary took of me jacking up the corner of our house to install a new stump (support). Now our kitchen floor is much more level than it was when we moved in. The jack is a heavy duty high lift jack made for use with 4x4 trucks in rugged areas. My brother-in-law Bill gave me the jack. I hope this is the only time I need to use it.
